What's Covered?

Uninsured Loss Recovery & Personal Injury:

To pursue damages claims arising from a road traffic accident:


  • Whilst you are in, boarding or alighting the vehicle against those whose negligence has caused your injury or death; and/or
  • Against those whose negligence has caused you to suffer loss of your insurance policy excess or other out of pocket expenses.


Motor Prosecution Defence:

To defend a legal action in respect of a motoring offence, arising from your use of the vehicle.


Motor Contract: To pursue or defend a legal action relating to a dispute over a contract for the sale or purchase of goods or services relating to the vehicle, including the vehicle itself, provided advisers' costs do not exceed the amount claimed



Hire Vehicle: We will provide you with a hire vehicle up to the hire period (14 days) within the policy schedule, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of this policy, arising from an insured incident within the territorial limits where you notify us during the insured period and within 2 working days of the insured incident.

Motor Legal Expenses & Vehicle Replacement

  • What is Insured?

    • Limit of Liability: The maximum amount payable for costs and expenses per claim is £100,000

  • What is not Insured?

    The policy does not provide cover for:  

    • Pre-inception incidents: We won’t cover events that started before the policy began.
    • Prospects of success: We won’t cover any legal action if there are not prospects of success. This is where the likelihood of winning is less than 50%. 
    • Minimum amount in dispute: We won’t cover claims where the amount in dispute is lower than the estimated advisers’ costs to act for you.  
    • Conflicts: We will not cover any costs covered by another insurance policy.
    • Approved Costs: We will not cover any advisers’ costs or any other costs and expenses incurred which have not been agreed in advance or are above those for which we have given our prior written approval. 

  • Is There an Excess?

    There is no excess. Apart from if you wish to defend a criminal prosecution of a motoring offence, in which case you are responsible for the first £100.

  • Who does the policy cover?

    • The policyholder;
    • Any other person entitled to ride or drive the vehicle covered under the motor insurance policy. 
    • Any passenger in, on, getting in to, out of or off the Insured Vehicle, provided that they have your permission to claim under this Policy

  • What's actually covered?

  • Do I need it?

    This one is your call. You don't need this policy legally, but if ever you need to involve solicitors to fight your corner, it becomes a costly excercise. So is it worth spending £20 a year? We think it probably is.

  • Motor Legal Expenses

    Covers £100,000 costs for Drivers and Passengers wishing to bring a claim for Uninsured Losses against a third party following a non-fault incident involving a motor vehicle. Covers £500 costs where a claim allocated to the Small Claims Track. Includes provision of an Incident Management service to all claimants. Policy also includes Uninsured Loss Recover and Motor Prosecution defence. Additional Services are Accident Claims Management and Support Section, Pay as you need Breakdown and Recovery Cover Section, Uninsured Loss Recovery incl Hire, Repair and Personal Injury, Total Loss Recovery Section and Glass Repair & Replacement Service.

    Did you know that you aren't always entitled to a replacement vehicle. For instance if your car is stolen or written off, then it's more than likely that your Insurer won't provide you with a  courtesy car.  This is where our replacement vehicle helps. For just an extra £5 on our standard Motor Legal Expenses, you get a replacement vehicle for up to 14 days.
